Based on traffic data from more than 600 million vehicles and mobile devices, TomTom’s experts calculate the time lost and the costs per kilometer driven – making the data representative. In Germany, the real-time data was evaluated for 27 cities and regions from ten federal states. In order to be able to compare the cities with each other, the experts at TomTom draw a 5-kilometer radius around the geographical city center.

Germany’s traffic jam capital is neither Munich, Cologne nor Berlin, but Wiesbaden. In percentage terms, the increase in time is highest during rush hour.
