A-Shares Soar on First Trading Day of Year of the Dragon

The A-shares market got off to an auspicious start on February 19, the first trading day of the Year of the Dragon. The Shanghai Composite Index posted four consecutive gains, crossing the 2,900-point mark and closing at 2910.54 points, up 1.56%. The Shenzhen Composite Index also rose 0.93%, while the GEM Index soared by 1.13%. Despite a decrease in the overall trading value, the markets were buoyed by positive gains in the AI concept, education, and high-dividend sectors.

AI concept stocks, led by Sora (Wensheng Video), multi-modal model concepts, Web3.0, ChatGPT, virtual humans, and AIGC, experienced significant gains across the board. Chinese Online, Guomai Culture, and Yidiantianxia, were among the stocks that rose by 20%. Additionally, the education sector rebounded, with companies like Kaiyuan Education and Quantong Education registering a 20% increase. In the high-dividend concept stocks segment, coal and oil companies like Yunmei Energy and Antai Group achieved daily limits.

The surge in AI concept stocks was attributed to the recent launch of the Vincent video model Sora by the American artificial intelligence company OpenAI. This launch marked a breakthrough in the field of multi-modal AI technology, driving attention and investment in the AI sector.

The education sector also gained momentum, with various companies in the industry disclosing strong performance forecasts or announcements. The Ministry of Education’s draft regulations on the management of off-campus training further boosted investor confidence in the sector.

Looking ahead, analysts from Pacific Securities and Galaxy Securities expect a revaluation in the content assets market and a strengthened education sector, respectively. These developments present investment opportunities in AI-assisted content generation tools and K9 literacy and high school stage training companies.

Securities Times encouraged investors to be cautious and conduct thorough research before making investment decisions. The newspaper advised utilizing its official app or WeChat account for up-to-date stock market trends and policy information.

Investors, both seasoned and new, should carefully observe the market and consider diversifying their investment portfolios to capitalize on the upcoming trends in various sectors, such as technology and education. While the market outlook appears to be positive, it is always important to act prudently and avoid speculative trading.
