NIO Continues to Expand Battery Swap Business with New Strategic Cooperations

NIO, the electric vehicle manufacturer, is rapidly expanding its battery swap business, partnering with Anhui Energy Group and Anhui Traffic Control Group to build an open and shared storage, charging, and swapping network. The company plans to construct 1,000 integrated storage, charging, and swapping stations and has also reached strategic cooperation agreements with Jiangxi Automobile Group and Chery Automobile.

The establishment of Zhongan Energy, a joint venture between NIO, Anhui Energy Group, and Anhui Traffic Control Group, will serve as a platform for the construction of the new energy vehicle storage, charging, and swapping network. The three parties will work together to promote the openness and interoperability of the battery swapping network, as well as carry out comprehensive cooperation in battery standards, charging and swapping technology, and battery asset management.

The cooperation is expected to have a significant impact on the new energy vehicle aftermarket, and NIO’s battery swap stations are set to become a crucial part of Anhui’s automobile “first industry”.

Additionally, NIO has signed strategic cooperation agreements with Jiangxi Automobile Group and Chery Automobile, aiming to work on establishing battery swap standards, technology, service network construction, and efficient battery asset management mechanisms.

Looking ahead, NIO plans to build 1,000 new power swap stations and 20,000 new charging columns in 2024, with a long-term goal of opening up a nationwide power exchange network.

With the rapid deployment and expansion of its battery swap business, NIO aims to enhance the overall user charging experience and solidify its position in the Chinese market as the car brand with the most charging piles and battery swap stations.
