Boeing opens the first Newton Room in Italy at the Polytechnic of Bari

The Polytechnic of Bari hosts the first “Newton Room” created in Italy from 4 to 19 November. It is an initiative wanted by Boeing Italia together with ScuolAttiva onlus and the Norwegian non-profit organization First Scandinavia. The aim is to create an innovative approach of the children of the first classes of the upper secondary schools of Puglia towards the disciplines marked by the acronym Stem, that is Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths.

The model has already been successfully launched in several European countries such as Spain, Poland, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Great Britain. In Norway there are already 40 “Newton Rooms”. From the use of equipment such as flight simulators to the deepening of scientific knowledge, everything with the “Newton Room” is oriented towards a new way of teaching by enhancing the potential of digital natives.

The teaching activity takes place in the presence and is oriented on aerospace, Boeing’s activity but also among the main ones in Puglia with the production centers of Foggia, Bari, Grottaglie-Taranto and Brindisi. Furthermore, Grottaglie airport has already been recognized as a spaceport. And in Puglia Leonardo with the Foggia and Grottaglie plants has already been working on Boeing orders for years.

The “Newton Room” project also has a point of contact with the Polytechnic of Bari also at the motto level. That of the “Newton Room” is in fact “Shape the future through great learning experiences” (ridisegnare the future thanks to great learning experiences), that of the Polytechnic of Bari, on the other hand, “de ‘oars we made wings ”and both, it is emphasized, show how the will and the desire for knowledge are the engine of every action of the human intellect.
