BoJ policy change pushes yen higher – Nikkei falls

The Nikkei index, which includes 225 stocks, was 0.9 percent lower at 39,731 points. The broader Topix index fell 0.4 percent to 2,719 points. Chip test supplier Advantest lost 3.49 percent, making it the biggest detractor for the Nikkei, followed by chip manufacturer Tokyo Electron, which lost 3.03 percent. Financial stocks bucked the trend: Mitsubishi UFJ gained 0.44 percent and Sumitomo Mitsui rose 1.28 percent.
