China restricts access to Tiananmen Square ahead of anniversary of Tiananmen massacre

People who were walking on an avenue north of the square on Sunday were stopped and had to identify themselves. Those on journalist visas were told they needed special permission to approach the square. Nevertheless, numerous tourists were out and about, queuing in a long line to be able to enter the square.
