Cities of art, sea and foreign capitals: 9 million Italians traveling on the weekend of 25 April

The bad weather forecast for the long weekend of 25 April is not discouraging the Italians ready to leave for a mini spring holiday. Also because May 1st falls on Sunday this year and therefore it will not be possible to organize other mini breaks. According to a Federalberghi survey, approximately 9 million and 298 thousand Italians will be traveling on 25 April: 91.7% will stay in Italy, while 8.3% will choose a foreign location.

Prefer the cities of art

The favorite destinations for travelers who will stay in Italy will be the places of art (31.0%), the sea (22.6%), the mountains (19.8%). Abroad the big European capitals “win” (67.3%) followed by the sea (16.4%). The preferred accommodation will be the hotel (34.1%); followed by the homes of relatives and friends with 22.5%, bed & breakfasts (15.9%) and homes owned (12.4%). Agritourisms are also very popular with the return to outings after two years of springs marked by Covid and the necessary restriction measures for the pandemic: according to Coldiretti, three hundred thousand Italians will choose one of the 25 thousand agritourism facilities in Italy which is a world leader in rural tourism.

Turnover of 4 billion

The turnover will be 4.3 billion. «Judging from our data – says the president of Federalberghi, Bernabò Bocca – we are happy to be able to see that the millions of Italians who left for the Easter holidays were not a mistake. Essentially, the choice to travel is not episodic, but instead we return to planning a holiday in close proximity also on the occasion of the long weekend of 25 April, which this year the calendar drops due to a lucky situation on Monday ». And he adds: «I want to remember that on the occasion of the Easter bridge a city like Venice recorded the presence of 130,000 visitors a day. With the Liberation Day other cities of art will have their redemption. I believe that we should be moved by a situation that until recently, due to the pandemic, seemed unattainable ».

Price increase alarm

For its part, the National Consumers Union reports the increases: “Already last month hotel rates – says President Massimiliano Dona – have already risen by 9.7% compared to last year, placing hotels in second place in the related increases. to holidays. We understand that the expensive electricity and gas bills have also affected the hotel facilities, but if we make up for it with the interests of our customers, we are doing badly. Also because all holiday prices have already risen ».
