An annual event in which the many protagonists involved in the world of Development Cooperation could meet, discuss, inform themselves: we have always thought that this was the great strength of Codeway, the Cooperation Fair organized by Fiera di Roma. Started in 2019, the appointment was then marked by the Covid19 pandemic first and then by its after-effects. Today the time has come to take this event back into our own hands and try to express the full potential it brings with it.
For this reason, as Internationalia, a publishing company specializing in information on emerging countries, we have accepted the challenge of becoming co-organizers of Codeway. We participated in the first event as exhibitors and communication suppliers, convinced of the originality of the project. We immediately understood its great potential: a moment of confrontation between cooperation actors – be they private individuals, institutions, universities, companies, civil society organizations, public administrations – of this type does not exist at an Italian, but not even a European, level. By the very nature of their work, cooperation workers are often traveling around the world.
The idea of being able to count on a square, that of Fiera di Roma, where we can all meet and get together at least once a year had fascinated us right from the start. Working alongside the very capable Fiera di Roma team, we will make a contribution to organizing an event that responds to the different needs of the subjects involved, starting with Italian and international institutions, passing through companies and civil society organisations.
What unites us and Fiera di Roma is the idea that Codeway will have to express to the maximum the deepest meaning of a Fair: that of networking, of getting to know each other and comparing notes. We are convinced that, in light of the new approach to Development Cooperation that is taking place at a global level, the sharing of ideas, projects and subjects, even apparently different ones, is the key. On the other hand, it is clear that Cooperation is moving from a mere humanitarian approach to a more holistic vision, integrating the economic, financial, social, technological, political and cultural world.
Against the background of the meetings of the next edition of Codeway, which will be held from May 15th to 17th, there will be the major themes of the moment: from the Mattei Plan to the Global Gateway, from the energy transition to ESG, passing through climate change and the future of key sectors such as agribusiness, healthcare. The objective we have set ourselves is to ensure that Codeway becomes an opportunity to obtain useful contacts and practical information. This is why this year’s edition, in addition to some classic conferences, includes moments and spaces specifically dedicated to Financing and Procurement. With Financing we mean publicizing existing financing opportunities dedicated to the world of Cooperation by the main International Financial Institutions (IFIs), such as the World Bank, European Investment Bank or Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. Procurement refers to explaining to everyone how to participate in international tenders for supplies in large cooperation projects. A dedicated space will then be left to companies which, in a special Pitch area, will have the opportunity to present their products or services designed for international cooperation to the world of cooperation, institutions, financial bodies and civil society organisations. The challenges that threaten the world in recent years require everyone’s contribution and a new way of cooperation. And for this reason a square like that of Codeway is more necessary than ever, to discuss and find together the answers and the paths to follow. [Da Redazione InfoAfrica]
