According to the Beijing News, the store opened in Suzhou is China’s second Costco. It is located in the high-tech zone and has the same area as the first store in Shanghai.
On the first day of membership card opening before the opening of the Suzhou store, more than 10,000 people applied for a membership card worth RMB 199, which not only surpassed the Shanghai record, but also broke the global record for the number of people applying for a card on the first day at Costco.
Costco’s first store on the mainland opened in Minhang, Shanghai in 2019. The mall was squeezed into traffic on the first day, and it even announced its suspension of business at 1 pm after only half a day of opening.
