To rent an umbrella and two sunbeds during the weekend, in an average establishment, you will spend between 25 and 30 euros per day, an amount that rises to 100 euros in the higher-level structures – analyzes the Codacons -. It also costs more to consume food and drinks at the shores, with average increases of + 10% over 2021 which also affect mineral water, sandwiches, fruit juices, beers, ice cream.
To these items of expenditure is added the expensive fuel: to move from the city to the sea, much more will be spent this year. Considering the expense for transport (fuel), rent of 1 umbrella and 2 sunbeds, drinks (sandwiches, water, ice cream, coffee), parking, a family spends on average 97 euros this year for a day at the beach, with an average increase of + 12% on 2021.
It is worse for those who are booking a plane ticket these days to fly abroad in the summer: flights to EU destinations have undergone increases of + 91% in the last month compared to 2021, while intercontinental flights have increased by +35 , 7% and the national ones of + 15.2% – explains the Codacons – Dear also the ferries, which increase by + 19.4% compared to the same period of 2021.
The prices of train tickets are reduced, falling by -9.9% on an annual basis. Eating a meal away from home costs on average 4.2% more, + 4.3% if you go to a pizzeria, while 7.5% more is spent on “food delivery”. In the last month, accommodation facilities have applied moderate increases (on average + 2.3%, with the peak of + 6.1% for pensions), but price increases are expected for the summer months (July and August). And among the summer price increases – concludes the Codacons – there are also air conditioners, for which 10.1% more is spent, items for gardening, plants and flowers (+ 6.3%), museums, parks and gardens (+ 7.1%) and ice cream (+ 8.3%).
