German Bundestag – Brantner emphasizes the importance of companies oriented towards the common good

Berlin: (hib/EMU) The Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), Franziska Brantner (Alliance 90/The Greens), spoke at the briefing discussion (20/8372) of the Bundestag on the National Strategy for Social Innovations and Common Good Companies in the Economic Committee emphasized the importance of the program.

The 70 measures that the BMWK wants to implement together with the Federal Ministry of Finance form a “bouquet of measures to strengthen the growing branch of our economy,” said Brantner at the meeting on Wednesday. This effort can also be seen in neighboring European countries such as France and Spain.

Companies oriented towards the common good are a very relevant part of the German economy, said the Parliamentary State Secretary. The number of employees in this area is even larger than the number of employees in the automotive industry.

With the national strategy, the federal government wants to act as a “learning partner” with socially innovative actors in science, business, voluntary welfare and civil society to enable, accelerate and spread social innovations and economic activity oriented towards the common good.

“Social innovations are gaining considerable and growing importance in new companies and are thus making an important contribution to the development of our social-ecological market economy and to the competitiveness of Germany as a location for innovation,” says the briefing.
