HUAWEI CLOUD’s Vice President and CMO, Zhang Peng, recently delivered a keynote speech at the 2023 China New Media Conference. The conference, themed “New Smart Media and New Opportunities,” focused on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and media. Zhang Peng discussed HUAWEI CLOUD’s collaboration with the media industry to create a large media model known as the Pangu Media, aiming to enhance content productivity in the era of media integration.
During his speech, Zhang Peng highlighted the importance of large models in the media industry. He explained that the technology industry specializes in providing new applications, while the media focuses on producing quality content and exploring new applications on mainstream and professional platforms. The Pangu Large Model 3.0, developed by HUAWEI CLOUD, encompasses five basic large models: natural language, vision, multimodality, prediction, and scientific computing. In collaboration with media industry customers, HUAWEI CLOUD plans to create a safe, reliable, and high-quality Pangu Media Mockup, customized for the media industry and its specific scenarios.
Zhang Peng emphasized the transformative power of AI, stating that it will significantly reshape the media industry’s processes such as acquisition, compilation, review, and broadcasting. He emphasized that the integration of media and innovative technologies will lead to profound changes. By leveraging AI technology, the media industry’s productivity can be greatly enhanced.
During the conference, Zhang Peng also introduced MetaStudio, a comprehensive digital content production line developed by HUAWEI CLOUD. This one-stop platform aims to drive media content innovation and maximize media value. MetaStudio provides various services, including model making, asset management, content editing, physical simulation, and cloud rendering. Additionally, it offers real-time interactive spaces for virtual-real fusion applications. MetaStudio has already been successfully applied in cloud production, cloud rendering, and virtual singing scenarios.
Zhang Peng stressed that alongside content production, reliable and independent innovative infrastructure, such as computing power and network infrastructure, plays a crucial role in the “media + AI” landscape. He highlighted HUAWEI CLOUD’s commitment to building independent innovation and secure infrastructure while collaborating with media partners to drive technological advancements within the industry. By making AI implementation easier for the media industry, HUAWEI CLOUD aims to accelerate media content production and foster digital intelligence.
