Infiniti Introduces New Technology for Privacy in Phone Calls While Driving
Luxury car manufacturer Infiniti, a division of Nissan, has unveiled a new feature on its upcoming full-size SUV that aims to make phone calls while driving more comfortable for everyone in the vehicle. The technology allows the driver to take a phone call without interrupting the music playing for passengers, as only the driver can hear the conversation and the person on the other end cannot hear the music.
Developed in partnership with Panasonic Automotive and Klipsch, the system utilizes intelligent speaker placement and sound cancellation technology to create a unique audio experience. The driver and front passenger seats are equipped with headrest-mounted speakers, a concept typically seen in convertibles but now implemented in the quiet luxury setting of the Infiniti QX80.
The technology works by reading the digital music track being played and utilizing it to create sound waves that create a silent bubble around the driver, allowing for privacy during phone calls while others in the vehicle can continue listening to music without interruption. The redesigned QX80, set to launch next year, promises to revolutionize the in-car audio experience.
During a demonstration in Manhattan, the system showcased its capability by enabling the driver to engage in a phone call while music was playing, with the voice on the other end of the call being effectively masked by the music for other passengers. The feature only works when music is playing, ensuring privacy during calls and a seamless audio experience for all occupants of the vehicle.
As luxury car manufacturers continue to compete in the realm of high-end audio systems, Infiniti’s innovative technology sets a new standard for in-car sound isolation and privacy during phone calls. With the introduction of this feature, Infiniti is poised to offer a unique and enhanced driving experience for its customers.
