The improvements in the new building will primarily benefit patients. A modern, light hospital with short distances has been built on a total floor area of 96,000 square meters – the equivalent of around 630 single-family homes. All departments are arranged in such a way that patients can be treated quickly. Other areas such as geriatrics, plastic surgery and a socio-pediatric center have recently been added. In addition to a helipad on the roof, there are a total of 927 beds (plus 95 in the psychiatric ward) and 22 operating rooms. In addition, six new delivery rooms have been built, which are furnished according to the Feng Shui principle. This not only makes the stay more pleasant for the patients, but also makes the modernization – which brings with it growth – worthwhile for Helios. In the old Dr. Horst Schmidt Clinics only had space for 770 beds, 14 operating rooms and 4 delivery rooms.
