Respecting the timing announced at its debut, the strategy of the Polestar brand also respects the promise of offering models that are always at the state of the art at a technological level. This is confirmed by both the announcement and the Precept concept, exhibited at the Iaa in Munich as a philosophical and technological manifesto of the brand, will originate a model of normal production within three years and the update of the Polestar 2 range. performance on which the Chinese green brand, related to Volvo, focuses a lot to counteract Tesla with incisiveness. A mission that also rests on the expansion of the markets in which Polestar is present. Currently there are eighteen, but by the end of 2022 the number will reach thirty, although without yet including Italy.
The Polestar 2 family is now divided into three versions. In fact, next to the variant powered by two electric motors with 431 horsepower that can travel up to 480 kilometers before attaching itself to the electrical socket comes the single-engine one. The new version of the Polestar 2, in turn, is offered in two interpretations: standard autonomy and extended autonomy. The first uses a 224 horsepower powertrain powered by a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery that promises a mileage of 440 kilometers. The second is powered by a unit with 231 horsepower powered by a 78 kWh “battery” which guarantees a range of 540 kilometers. With the two new versions, the optional heat pump also makes its début, which makes it possible to reduce the energy requirement of air conditioning by 50%.

Among the innovations introduced by the new range, in addition to new optional packages made up of latest generation technologies, there is also that of being able to opt for an ultra-light electric motorcycle made in collaboration with Makka. The two-wheeler was designed to be hooked onto the tow hook of the Polestar 2 and recharged from the car. The reformulation of the range, which obviously also brings a range of prices starting from lower figures than in the past, does not affect the set-up of the new versions. In fact, it always includes distinctive components such as vegan upholstery, the infotainment system based on the Android Automotive operating system integrated with Google functions and, starting from this period, also the over the air car update.
