Shenzhen issues plan to boost development of Hongmeng native applications
On March 2, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and the Shenzhen Municipal Administration Services and Data Administration jointly announced the “Shenzhen 2024 Action Plan to Support the Development of Open Source Hongmeng Native Applications”. This plan aims to promote the growth of native applications for Huawei’s Hongmeng operating system in Shenzhen and increase financing support for relevant enterprises.
The “Action Plan” outlines specific goals for the development of Hongmeng native applications in Shenzhen by the end of 2024. These goals include increasing the number of Hongmeng native applications in Shenzhen to over 10% of the national total, ensuring coverage of all main vertical areas, and training more than 1,000 qualified Hongmeng developers.
Furthermore, the plan emphasizes support for Hongmeng native application companies to gather and thrive in Shenzhen. Qualified companies are encouraged to expand their Hongmeng native application development services and apply for national high-tech enterprise and specialized “little giant” enterprise qualifications. Additionally, increased financing support for Hongmeng native application software companies is planned.
Huawei’s Hongmeng operating system, launched in 2019, has recently unveiled a completely independent version, HarmonyOS NEXT Hongmeng Galaxy Edition. This new version marks a move towards independence from Android, showcasing Huawei’s commitment to its own operating system.
Shenzhen, known as the birthplace of the open source Hongmeng system, has a strong foundation in the software industry. The city is home to major Hongmeng R&D teams and numerous application software companies. With an active ecosystem and participation from 49 companies, Shenzhen is poised to play a significant role in the development of Hongmeng native applications.
Overall, the “Shenzhen 2024 Action Plan” signals a strategic effort to boost the development of Hongmeng native applications and solidify Shenzhen’s position as a key player in the Hongmeng ecosystem.
