Solar start-ups are planning production in Germany

While some start-ups primarily make noise, others really ramp up their production. One start-up that is taking advantage of corporations’ mass withdrawal is Sunmaxx from Ottendorf-Okrilla. In the suburb of Dresden, the company builds modules that are equally focused on photovoltaics and solar thermal energy. This means that the cells produce electricity and heat at the same time with a much better efficiency than pure PV systems. A niche product and therefore Sunmaxx’s unique selling point. Because so far there is no cheap competition from China. The Saxon start-up has been selling its PVT modules for over a year, and demand is increasing. “We have to grow quickly in order to be competitive,” says founder Wilhelm Stein.
