According to the airport association ADV, around 90,000 passengers at the five German airports have to prepare for flight cancellations and delays because of the warning strike announced on Thursday. The association expects more than 580 flight cancellations on this day alone.

The collective bargaining dispute in aviation security affects around 25,000 employees of private security companies who, on behalf of the Federal Police, check passengers, staff and luggage at the entrances to security areas. Despite five rounds of negotiations so far, no agreement has been reached. Verdi is calling for an hourly wage increase of 2.80 euros over a period of twelve months and for overtime bonuses to begin more quickly from the first hour of overtime.
