Tesla Recalls Cybertruck Models for Accelerator Pedal Issue

Tesla has announced a market retrofit for all its Cybertruck electric trucks after identifying a problem with the accelerator pedal that could pose a safety risk. The issue, which could cause the pedal to come loose and get stuck in a maximum power situation, affects 3,878 units manufactured between November 13, 2023, and April 4, 2024.

The company’s decision to recall the vehicles was made after reports surfaced, including a viral video demonstrating the problem. The fix, described as a quick 35-second procedure, involves installing a rivet to secure the pedal pad in place.

In a Service Bulletin issued to Cybertruck owners, Tesla outlined the steps for the repair, including measuring the distance between the pedal pad and the base of the pedal. If the distance is greater than 5mm, the entire pedal assembly must be replaced.

Despite the setback, Tesla CEO Elon Musk remains confident in the Cybertruck, which has been touted as a futuristic vision of mobility. With plans to ramp up production to 250,000 units annually by 2025, Tesla is working to address challenges in the electric vehicle sector while ensuring the safety and integrity of its vehicles.
