How weakened?
That is hard to say. There is a risk that Russia will be strong enough to take advantage of Ukraine’s lack of weapons. And unless the US approves additional funding, Ukraine will not have enough artillery shells, ammunition and weapons to defend itself. It is somewhat questionable whether Russia can exploit this. But it’s a big risk. If we provided the additional aid package that the President has put forward, I think Ukraine would be in a very strong position to defend its territory. Without these resources it is a huge risk. If Russia is able to overrun Ukraine and essentially turn it into Belarus, then Russia will be in a stronger position to threaten other interests in the region, whether in Georgia or possibly the Baltics. Who knows where Putin will go next if he can simply invade Ukraine and subjugate it? I’d rather not find out the answer to this question.
