UK: sterling hits one-year highs

The GBP hit a one-year high today, last trading at $1.2613.

The British currency received a boost following this week’s US Federal Reserve meeting. The central bank has hinted at a pause in interest rate hikes, leading to speculation that the Bank of England may also be forced to slow down its monetary tightening.
