In the week ending October 30, the number of American workers who applied for the first time for unemployment benefits fell to 269,000, outperforming the 275,000 consensus expected and following the previous week’s 283,000. (figure revised upwards from the 281,000 units initially disclosed). The figure has fallen to a low since the week ending March 14, 2020. The four-week moving average has fallen by 15,000 to 284,750, again at its lowest since March 14, 2020. The number of US workers who receive subsidies dropped by 134,000 to 2.105 million.
