Why the district heating market needs reform

While the effective kilowatt hour price for a household in a typical apartment building has risen from 17 to 20 cents in Leipzig since the beginning of the year, it has fallen from 22 to 17 cents in Stuttgart. This total includes a large number of individual items such as basic price, performance price, measurement price, work price, emission price, gas storage levy, meter reading costs and other parameters. Transparency? The VZBV believes that this is not the case and calls for changes: “For consumers, pricing in the district heating market is a black box,” criticizes board member Ramona Pop. Customers expect fair prices and must be able to understand price changes.
