But in addition to performing artist and director artist, Lan Lanye is also an old party member with more than 70 years of party experience. He participated in the revolution in his youth and engaged in progressive literary and artistic activities. Even the name “Blue Sky” was changed because of the revolution.
Lan Lanye, formerly known as Wang Runsen, was born in Raoyang County, Hebei Province in 1927, and moved to Peiping with his family when the moon was full. In 1945, Wang Runsen’s third sister, Shi Mei, suddenly returned to Peiping from the liberated area to prepare for the victory of the Anti-Japanese War as an underground party. Their home has thus become an underground contact point. At that time, Wang Runsen was still a student in the Oil Painting Department of the National Peiping Art College. Under the influence of the third sister, he devoted himself to the revolutionary work, listened to the broadcasts of the liberated areas, engraved the contents on the wax blocks, mimeographed them, distributed them, and transported materials and documents between the Kuomintang-controlled areas and the liberated areas… On September 23, 1945, Wang Runsen officially joined Communist Party of China. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the student movement led by the party developed rapidly. Wang Runsen put down his brush under the organizational arrangement and began to organize a drama club and perform performances. In 1948, he secretly evacuated from Peiping with his second drama team. In order not to affect the comrades who were still in the Kuomintang-controlled areas, his superiors asked everyone who entered the liberated areas to change their names. .
“I can do whatever the organization tells me to do, and I can do whatever the party decides.” For the sake of the revolutionary cause, Lan Lanye embarked on the path of theatrical art, and he did it for a lifetime.
Lan Lanye has mentioned on many occasions the scene when he stood in Tiananmen Square at the age of 22 and heard Chairman Mao solemnly announce the birth of New China. He said: “I know why the Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army can win, and I feel more deeply that the new China was hard-won.” It is precisely with the cherishing of this “hard-won” that Lan Lanye devoted himself to the stage of people’s art with enthusiasm. .
In 1952, the Beijing People’s Art Theater was established, and Lan Lanye became the first group of main actors of the theater.
Play comes from life. This is the perseverance of Beijing Renyi, and it is also the artistic pursuit of artists of the older generation such as Lan Lanye. During the first rehearsal of “Tea House”, Lantian Wildflower spent more time and energy in experiencing life than in the rehearsal. In order to play the role of “Second Master Qin” well, he went to teahouses large and small in the city of Beijing. Storytellers, shop assistants, businessmen, and fortune-tellers were all his “face-to-face” objects – pondering them He also designed his own make-up and styling.
Even if it’s not for a certain play, Lan Lanye often experiences life. In 1963, Lan Lanye went to Gangshang Village, Fangshan District, Beijing, and lived in an adobe house for half a year with Wu Chunshan, an old secretary of the National Model Worker. From winter to summer, he and his fellow villagers got up early and worked in the dark to do farm work and feed livestock. Nearly half a century later, when Lantianye revisited his hometown, he could still blurt out the names of the villagers. “This has made me gain a solid life accumulation, and also gain a strong interest, which enriches my life.” In Lantian ambition, such an experience is precious.
In fact, in addition to the familiar characters like “Er Master Qin”, Lan Lanye also made a cameo appearance as a beggar in “Tea House”. He is also an old worker who has no lines in “The Train That Didn’t Leave”, and he is also a member of “Outwitness”. The boss of the “Eight Great Kings” and the “storyteller” in the “Tiger Mountain” are not even printed in the performance description… “There are no small roles, only small actors.” Lan Lanye firmly believes that as long as you pay attention Thinking about it, each character can create a style.
In artistic creation, if you can do better, why not do it? This is what Lantian Ye often says when he encourages young people. “Doing better” has become the pursuit of batches of young actors.
In 2008, Lan Lanye was invited to serve as a consultant of the Beijing People’s Art Committee. After more than 20 years of retirement, Lan Lanye returned to the world of drama again. He read scripts and watched the troupe. He was still sincere and frank when talking about drama. In 2011, in order to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the party, the 84-year-old Lan Lanye returned to the stage and played the villain Feng Leshan for the first time in the classic drama “Home”; Lan Lanye acted as the starring role and artistic director in the grand drama “Jia Zi Yuan”; in 2015, the 88-year-old Lan Ye again directed the masterpiece “The Lady Returns” by the Swiss playwright Dylan Matt. During the rehearsal, he threw away the With crutches, he fell to the ground to demonstrate for young actors; in March 2021, at the age of 94, he will be a director again, rehearsing the drama “Wu Wang Jin Ge Yue Wang Jian”, and continue the stage love…

On the afternoon of June 8, the day Lan Lanye passed away, in the rehearsal hall of Beijing Renyi, the younger generations were preparing for the final rehearsal for the premiere of the 70th anniversary edition of “Tea House”. Actor Yang Lixin still remembers the exciting scene of the curtain call performance of “Tea House” in 1992. This time he played the role of Qin Zhongyi who took over from Lan Lanye. On the evening of the 9th, Renyi’s classic drama “Tea House” was staged again. Lan Lanye, who has appeared in 374 “Tea House” plays, is one of the art consultants for the revival of this play. The first generation of “Second Master Qin” is gone, but the artistic spirit he left behind will never end.
