Well-known actor Cheng Yi facing contract dispute lawsuit

The popular actor Cheng Yi, known for his roles in various costume fairy tale dramas, is currently embroiled in a contract dispute lawsuit with his former agency, Guangzhou Tianji Performing Arts Agency Co., Ltd. The case is set to be heard at the Intermediate People’s Court of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province on July 2.

Cheng Yi rose to fame with his role in the TV series “Tang Palace Beauty World” in 2011 and has since gained more attention for his performances in costume fairy tale dramas such as “Qing Yun Zhi” and “Liu Li”. He has been hailed as a costumed male god by some netizens for his roles in popular dramas like “Agarwood as Crumbs” and “Agarwood”.

His production studios, Yongkang Qiyuan Film and Television Culture Studio and Xiamen Chenqi Qiyuan Film and Television Media Co., Ltd., are also mentioned in the court opening announcement on the QiChacha APP.

In response to the lawsuit, Cheng Yi’s studio issued a statement stating that the actor had terminated his acting agency relationship with Tianji Company in 2015 and that there was no dispute between the two parties. They have vowed to actively respond to the lawsuit and protect Cheng Yi’s rights and reputation in accordance with the law.
