(AFP, London, 30th) Tom Parker, a member of British and Irish boy band The Wanted, died today at the age of 33. He revealed more than a year ago that he had a brain tumor and was unable to operate.
The singer from the northwest of England announced his diagnosis in October 2020, and after receiving treatment, he toured with the rest of the band in March of the following year.
His actor wife Kelsey Hardwick wrote on Instagram: “It is with the heaviest hearts that we confirm that Tom passed away peacefully earlier today, surrounded by his family.”
The remaining four members said: “He is our brother. Words cannot express our loss and sadness. He will always be in our hearts.”
Tom Parker and Hardwick have two young children, one of whom was born shortly after his diagnosis.
He told OK! magazine at the time: “I’ll be here, fighting the disease.”
“Desire” formed in 2009 and topped the UK Singles Chart with songs such as All Time Low and Glad You Came, the latter reaching No. 3 on the US Billboard chart.
