MILAN – In the ranking of the richest Chinese businessmen drawn up by Forbes, the fastest ascents concern the characters linked to electrification and the production of batteries; a turnover that for the automotive sector is worth just over 40 billion dollars in 2021 and is destined to rise to over 100 before 2030.
Among the Chinese scroungers, the person who has been enriched more than any other in the last year is Robin Zeng, owner and president of Contemporary Amperex Technology, a manufacturer of lithium batteries for motor vehicles.
In fact, Zeng’s official assets went from 20.1 billion dollars to 50.8 billion, making him reach the third place in the absolute ranking that sees the king of mineral water Zhong Shanshan at the top (credited for 65.9 billion dollars ) which, for its part, thanks to the pandemic has benefited from its interests extended to the pharmaceutical industry. In second place the owner of TikTok Zhang Yiming.
The “king of batteries” Robin Zeng leads the group of another twenty managers in some way linked to the components of electrification, who have entered the Forbes rankings by force. The second “super rich electrician” is BYD president and co-founder Wang Chuanfu ($ 23.5 billion) and BYD vice president Lu Xiangyang ($ 18.6 billion) also appears in the ranking. BYD with 18% of the Chinese market share is the leading company among electric cars.
Also benefiting from the success of electric vehicles in China is Tesla, which has obtained 25% of its overall profits there, and General Motors which, with the Joint venture with SAIC and Wuling, produces the Honggwang Mini, the $ 4,458 electric car which is by far the best-selling battery-powered car with over 300,000 units a year.
The growth of the business is confirmed by the fact that in China there are currently 479 companies dedicated to the production of electric vehicles, of which 70 were born in the last two years.
