Electric car, the recharge arrives at home

ROME – After Rome, Milan and Bologna, Turin will also have the E-GAP on-demand mobile top-up service from now on. The writing that stands out on the tailgate of vehicles used to recharge cars running out of electricity already says it all: “We are coming to give you a charge”. What does it mean? We explain it immediately.

The first thing to do is download the free app of the same name, with which to book a top-up. In the order it is obviously necessary to indicate the position of the car to be recharged, and above all by when we want to recharge. Through the app it is even possible to follow the recharge in real time.

At that point the E-GAP van will reach the vehicle within the required time, and a specialized operator will supply the recharge with a power equal to a fast type column. Once the operation has been completed, the cost will be charged to the credit card.

In Turin, private electric cars and motorbikes account for 0.5% of vehicles in circulation, double the national average (0.2%). In the Turin province, the spread of accessible public charging stations and charging points is good but still insufficient: there are 471 columns, 937 charging points.

In the three-year business plan drawn up by E-GAP, the planned investments amount to 200 million euros, which will be spent both in new e-Vans and in opening the service in 200 cities between Europe and the United States. By the end of 2022 E-GAP is expected to arrive in France (Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseille), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia), Germany (Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt), Holland (Amsterdam ), in Great Britain (London and Manchester) and in Greece (Athens).

“After Milan and Rome, and the recent opening in Bologna, Turin is the fourth major Italian city where we bring our recharging service”, explains Eugenio de Blasio, president and founder of E-GAP. “In a moment of maximum attention to the European and Italian objectives of spreading non-polluting vehicles, we are proud to offer a comfortable and flexible service that contributes to bringing citizens closer to electric mobility and to creating a sustainable urban and local environment”.
