Gong Hanlin and Comedians Launch New Drama “My Family Married Hua Mulan”
Beijing Daily News (Reporter Li Xiazhi) – The highly anticipated comedy “My Family Married Hua Mulan”, written and directed by renowned comedian Gong Hanlin, is set to premiere exclusively on the “On Demand Hall” of LeTV Video on January 25.
The star-studded play features an ensemble cast of over 20 comedians, including Fang Qingping, Li Weijian, He Yunwei, Bai Kainan, You Xianchao, Miao Fu, Liu Liu, and Pan Changjiang, among others.
In “My Family Married Hua Mulan”, the male protagonist Hao Xin, portrayed by Gong Tiankuo, and the female protagonist Jin Yingjie, played by Xi Wang, team up to bring to life an urban, inspirational, and humorous romantic comedy centered on the contemporary migrant worker “Mulan”. Gong Hanlin shared that the story was inspired by a speech he heard from a female representative at the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. From this, he discovered the gender discrimination in the workplace, specifically the sentiment of “I would rather have Wu Dalang than Mu Guiying.” Through this drama, Hanlin hopes to draw attention to this issue, stating, “The comedy structure of the play revolves around the unfairness faced by women when applying for jobs, and women finally realize their dreams through personal efforts. At the same time, many happy elements are also injected, and many Spring Festival Gala comedians fully interpret the ordinary life of short-lived parents.”
The series will launch simultaneously on the “LeTV APP” on large-screen TVs, and LeTV Super TV users will be able to enjoy it for free on the on-demand carousel.
