The Hospital Regional do Gama (HRG) turns 57 years old this Tuesday (12). To celebrate the date, the unit prepared a special program, including the delivery of certificates of merit to employees and teams most praised by users through the hospital ombudsman.
From 9 am to 12 pm, in the external area of the HRG library, the party will be attended by Thiago Martins and Luciano Agrizzi, representatives of the Health Department of the Federal District (SES-DF), and Francisco Pinheiro, a retired SES doctor who he was in charge of the construction work at HRG and other hospitals in the network.
HRG is a reference in orthopedic and gynecological surgeries, cardiology and phthisiology – part of pulmonology focused mainly on tuberculosis. In 2023, the unit provided 136,455 consultations in the areas of cardiology, general surgery, internal medicine, gynecology, obstetrics, dentistry and trauma-orthopedics. In addition, 4751 elective and emergency surgeries were performed.
The director of HRG, Ruber Paulo de Oliveira, highlights the quality service provided by the team and the excellence in the professional training of doctors. “In addition to serving the population, HRG trains specialist doctors and provides residency for multi-professionals in nursing, pharmacy, nutrition, physiotherapy and psychology”, he highlights.
To offer greater convenience to patients, the hospital underwent renovations last year, including the radiology center, which has new service counters, reception and waiting rooms. The emergency room underwent repairs in the reception and risk classification rooms and in the emergency management and medical prescription room. The sector’s bathrooms, in turn, gained new toilets and sinks.
In the adult and surgical emergency rooms, lighting and bathroom fixtures were replaced, walls, ceilings and reception chairs were painted, floors were waterproofed and glass repairs were carried out.
Furthermore, the Gama Polyclinic, which currently operates within HRG, will move to its own location. The unit will occupy the old Gama forum building, with an optimized structure and the possibility of offering new services. The space will also host the Dental Specialties Center (CEO) and the Hypertension and Diabetes Specialties Center (CEHD).

Custody Ward
Since 2023, HRG has had a custody wing to care for inmates at the Federal District Women’s Penitentiary (PFDF) – known as Colmeia. The place is the only one in the DF to offer exclusive hospital care for women who are serving sentences.
