The UN publishes a study in which it is argued that speed limits must be reduced. And in France they respond with another study, carried out by OpinionWay for MMA: it says that one of the greatest dangers comes from pedestrians. Yes, you read that right: a third of pedestrians (obviously in France) do not respect the rules when crossing the road. The field survey was conducted in five French cities and over 2000 crossings were recorded.
The study found that 35% of pedestrians behave dangerously and go through a red light (61%). 30% walk with their phone in hand. The most dangerous pedestrians are men (58%), especially very young people (55% are under the age of 30).
The time slots most at risk are similar to those in Italy, when you go (and return) to work or school: 34% of risk behaviors occur between 8 and 10, 27% between 12 and 14 and 50% between 16 and 18. Of all observed crossings, 6% resulted in an accident (13% in Paris).
In France the discussion has already started, becoming controversial: obviously the parties were divided between those who accuse pedestrians of having been sanctified, at the level of laws, and those who consider them victims without protection.
