Dutch songwriter/artist Lieke Heusinkveld’s solo project la loye has released a live video of her new single ‘everything, everything’ released on April 10th from Labeltje Labeltje!
Their sound is influenced by artists such as Elliott Smith, Mount Eerie, Radiohead, and Big Thief, and they have previously worked with Bearcubs, Flaws, and Maida Rose, and this month they are supporting The Indien.
All of my favorite Dutch musicians belong to Labeltje Labeltje, a label co-directed by Emil Landman, and I can feel their influence.
“I’ve always been a big sucker for nostalgia. It sort of sneaks up on me from time to time and it can be such a place of comfort: to revisit your memories over and over. But the past is a fleeting thing in the sense that a certain place or certain people, certain feelings that I would long for no longer exist in the same way they did back when I was younger. And that’s a concept that was so hard for me to let go of. To me, ‘everything, everything’ has now become that place that I can go back to time and time again, knowing it will gladly stay the same.”
I’ve always loved nostalgia. Nostalgia sneaks up on me from time to time, and reliving the memories over and over again gives me comfort. But the past is fleeting, and the things I admire, such as certain places, certain people, and certain feelings, no longer exist as they did when I was young. And that was a very difficult concept for me to let go of. For me, “Everything, Everything” became a place I could return to again and again. And I know that won’t change willingly.
