Focus on font innovation and discover outstanding talents, “Founder Award” has gone through 20 years
“Founder Award” is the earliest typeface design competition held in China, and it is also one of the most influential and appealing design competitions in China. In 2001, at the most difficult time in the font industry, Founder Electronics launched the first “Peking University Founder Award” printing font design competition. After that, it was held every two years for twenty years. The “Founder Award” has witnessed the rise of the Chinese character boom in the design field and the development and growth of the font industry in the past two decades.
From the first to the tenth, the “Founder Award” has invited 44 experts to serve as judges, a total of more than 15,000 authors participated, and more than 23,000 works of different styles were received. Through the “Founder Award” competition, many outstanding works have been developed into font libraries to serve the lives of the public; a large number of outstanding design talents have emerged, and some authors have become the backbone of the industry. While promoting font design innovation and discovering outstanding design talents, it also strengthened cultural exchanges between China and the West, promoted the development of the font industry, and played a positive role in promoting the Chinese culture of Chinese characters.

On the basis of finding good fonts as the main theme of the previous competitions, the 11th competition hopes to further see that designers in different fields can make fonts more vitality and value through subtle applications.
With a new mission, the 11th “Founder Award” design competition officially set up two competition units, font design and font application. Among them, the font design category includes the Chinese professional group, the Chinese student group, and the Latin group. Each of the three groups has 1 gold award, 2 silver awards, 3 bronze awards, and 5 excellence awards. The font application category includes brand, Book category, packaging category, poster category, RGB category, each of the five categories has 1 best award, 1 nomination award, and 10 outstanding awards. In addition, this competition also set up 15 judges awards, 15 outstanding cooperative college awards, and 15 outstanding instructors awards. The total prize money of the competition is more than 400,000 yuan.
