Easter and Easter Monday, as we know, are “free all” celebrations: the average Milanese crowd the streets in search of new panoramas. But there are still many who stop in the city, despite the traditions. There is no shortage of things to do. Here is a selection of the appointments they deserve.
PIC-NIC
With the treasure hunt it is the most typically Easter activity. Children love both of them very much. And they have the advantage of involving the whole family.
Il Fai (fondoambiente.it) offers special picnics in monumental gardens and historic parks accompanied by baskets with local spring products, country games and “egg hunts”, visits, walks and guided excursions. Among the places to go, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo in Casalzuigno, Villa Fogazzaro Roi in Oria di Valsolda, Palazzo Moroni in Bergamo (and here take advantage to also pay a visit to the Carrara Academy, which will be closed shortly for a few months to allow renovation and expansion works planned for Bergamo and Brescia, Italian capitals of culture 2023, and which in these days is offering the ticket at a reduced price of 8 euros).
The Bam (via Castillia 28, bam.milano.it), which for Easter Monday proposes a botanical treasure hunt in collaboration with Grandi Giardini Italiani and also organizes a “picnic in the park”, whose ingredients are to be purchased at the moment in the food market organized by Coldiretti and Campagna Amica: sustainable and km0. For those with a sweet tooth, the adjacent Ratanà restaurant also offers a gourmet picnic with a selection of cocktails and drinks.
And the treasure hunt always proposed on Monday is also botanical Villa Arconati (via Fametta 1, Bollate, 7/10 euro, reservations required, villaarconati-far.it). Even an (almost) picnic is possible: Caffè Goldoni opens onto the park and offers a cafeteria and lunch service only to visitors to the Villa.
On Easter Monday the monks ofChiaravalle Abbey (via Sant’Arialdo, Mulino di Chiaravalle, 15 euros, reservation required, tel. 0284930432) instead they propose an egg hunt: they are hens from their breeding and once they have found the children they can paint them.
And a treasure hunt as well natural History Museum (Corso Venezia 55, 7 euros, museodistorianaturalemilano.it): at Easter kids unleashed to discover clues and reveal riddles that have as their theme the fabulous exhibits of the Museum.
There is also a virtual treasure hunt: the clothing brand organizes it Friend Paris and is open until April 24th. The inhabitants of some of the largest cities in the world can participate: Paris, New York, London, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Miami, Seoul, Tokyo. In Italy only Milan. the participants play using their mobile phones and have to find and collect as many virtual eggs as possible, with a logic similar to that of “Pokémon GO”. FIORI
It has become a fashion and a nice pastime: going to see the multicolored flowering of tulips, taking some home with you: you (which becomes u) pick. Who could have thought of organizing a 2-hectare field of u-pick tulips in Northern Italy first, if not two Dutchmen? Edwin Koeman and Nitsuhe Wolanios, lovers of this flower by family tradition, have opened Italian tulips on the outskirts of Milan, in Arese (Parco delle Groane, via Luraghi 11, 4/5 euro, tulipani-italiani.it), an easy to reach destination, even by bike as it is on a comfortable cycle path. Thanks to the season which slowed down its flowering, the field is in full bloom. For these days it is expected to be very crowded, so it is highly recommended to book in advance, or you risk staying out. Two tulips are included with the entrance; any other additional costs 1.50 euros.
Just a little further away, three other centers have specialized in this activity: Tulipania in Terno d’Isola (via Marco Biagi 95, Bergamo, variable prices, tulipania.world) it also extends the offer to iris and narcissus and also proposes a u-pick with pic-nick.
Not only tulips also in the garden Shirin a Ornago (via Cascina Rossino, 4 euros, shirintulipani.it): here you can also take buttercups and dahlias home (and in anticipation of the summer a labyrinth of sunflowers is coming) or follow some natural cosmetics and botanical candles workshops and take bike tours in the area.
And finally in Cornate d’Adda there is Bloom Year (Coastal Road, 3.50 euros, fior willnit.it), kingdom of tulips and daffodils. Their pluses: the super-artisan savory pies and two ponies to let the children experience the thrill of a ride.
MUSICA
It is the first solo tour since leaving the Thegiornalisti band. Tommaso Paradiso reply Saturday evening at Arcimboldi Theater (and then the Milanese leg of his “Space Cowboy” Tour will also return on May 4th (Avenue of Innovation 20, 9 pm, 48/58 euros).
“Celebrate Studio 54“: Is the title of the evening with which Saturday the Blue Note celebrates the special years of the legendary New York nightclub, which have now entered the collective imagination thanks to names and artists such as Andy Warhol, Grace Jones, Liza Minnelli … On stage, Pulsation will tell the glorious years of Disco Music ’70 / ’80 . It will be a head dive into the history of “club” Funk of yesteryear, played live in the disco by musicians who later became the pillars of Disco music. EXHIBITIONS & MUSEUMS
Saturday at the Museum Poldi Pezzoli opens the solo exhibition of the Swiss artist “Nicolas Party: Triptych” (via Manzoni 12, until July 27, 14 euros, museopoldipezzoli.it). For this exhibition Party has created a group of new works that “dialogue” with some of Poldi Pezzoli’s masterpieces.
Il Wow-Museum of Comics (viale Campania 12, until 18 September, 7 euros, museowow.it) hosts the exhibition “Middle Ages – History, stories and myth in comics”: through original tables, reproductions of weapons and armor, books and posters, a historical period that has been illustrated by authors such as Sergio Toppi, Magnus, Dino Battaglia.
Il Laughs Milan hosts the exhibition “The Art of the Brick” (via Valenza 2, until 3 July, 11/15 euro, theartofthebrickexpo.com), which is none other than the display of dozens of “sculptures” created with Lego bricks by Nathan Sawaya: more than a million blocks have been used to reproduce famous masterpieces (Michelangelo’s “David”, the “Gioconda” Leonardo, “The scream” by Munch, “The kiss” by Klimt …) but also the skeleton of a T-Rex over 6 meters long. There is also a Play and Build area where young and old can give free rein to their creativity.
EVENTS
Holy Saturday and Easter on the facade of Santa Maria delle Grazie the short film “The Last Supper – The Living Tableau” by the director Armondo Linus Acosta is screened. Inspired by the homonymous masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci, it sees the collaboration of the Oscar winners Vittorio Storaro, Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo. Screenings take place every 15 minutes starting at 9 pm (until 11 pm).
DIGITAL
For Easter the Sormaniil Library System e Mondadori they gave the Milanese “L’Opera di Tre Soldi”, a novel by Giuseppe Ciabattini published in 1956 by the Gialli Mondadori: it consists of six short stories and two novels, in which the homeless Tre Soldi and Boero are the protagonists. A (re) discovery.
