Mirror of the times, the letters of April 16

A reader writes:

«To send a canvas that I painted for a friend to the USA, I must have the authorization of the superintendent of cultural heritage. But to ask for it, I have to use a program from the Ministry of Culture. An almost unsolvable problem. You can’t use a Mac, but a PC, that’s fine, but you need to use Internet Explorer, a browser that’s so old it’s about to be discontinued. I tried with old PCs, with new PCs that we still have Internet Explorer, but all without success. Her ministry program (Export Office Information System) is unintuitive, difficult to understand and impossible to use. I phoned the Turin Superintendency office several times, they are very kind, but they don’t have a desk where you can practice. I tried with a company that ships works of art but the costs are parameterized to the shipment of valuable works of art, my painting has no value… ».

A reader writes:

“I would like to know why new cycle paths (not required!) Are created at the beginning of Corso United States, thus narrowing the lanes of cars, which thus form queues at the single traffic light in Via San Secondo (with relative pollution), while allows bicycles and scooters to travel undisturbed under the arcades, on the sidewalks (which lead to the entrances of the condominiums), because the relative long cycle path (station side, a few meters away: it goes from Porta Nuova station to Corso Sommeiller) does not receive maintenance for years? It is useless to have the traffic police or the like do a couple of checks a year. By now the city deficit would be much lower … and we would be more disciplined ».

Renata Cassetta

A reader writes:

«I am the pastor of the Parish of San Bernardino. I am writing in reference to a letter published last April 12 in reference to the fact that a reader bought the olive tree outside our Church at the price of 3 euros, rightly complaining. I point out that whoever sold him the olive tree was not a volunteer from the parish. In fact, they were not in the churchyard (private property), but on the street. Our volunteers gave the bagged olive tree with a free offer, as the reader himself expected ».

Fra Raffaele Casiraghi

A reader writes:

«I would like to point out the danger of the block along Dora Napoli, at the corner of Via Cigna where pieces of rubble literally rain down from the building above».
