Filming between Palma di Montechiaro, Catania and the places of chaos, and there is the patronage of the Film Commission of the Valle dei Templi Tourism District. The title is “Leonora Addio”

The Film Commission of the Valle dei Templi Tourist District sponsored the new work of the great director Paolo Taviani who chose Sicily to shoot some scenes of his latest film “Leonora Addio”, produced by Stemal Entertainment with the support of Rai Cinema and in co-production 10% with the French “Les films d’Ici”.

Filming will take place in Palma di Montechiaro, near the Castle, while in recent months some scenes have been shot in the places of Chaos, at Luigi Pirandello’s birthplace.

Maestro Taviani has returned to express his love for Sicily, a sentiment already shared with his brother Vittorio, who passed away in 2018, first with a documentary, in the 1950s, and then with the film “Kaos” (1984) and “Tu laugh “(1998), both inspired by the work of Luigi Pirandello.

A first-rate cast was chosen for “Leonora Addio”: among the protagonists, Fabrizio Ferracane and Massimo Popolizio. The music is by Nicola Piovani. The title is inspired by the short story of the same name and by Mommina’s desperate song of “Tonight we recite a subject”: “Ah! What death every time … farewell Leonora, farewell!”

The film is in episodes: the first part focuses on the adventurous journey of Pirandello’s ashes from Rome to Agrigento; in the second, however, Pirandello is close to death and reflects on the fact that life has no meaning.

“The territory of the Valle dei Templi Tourist District is once again chosen by a great master of cinema – says the district administrator, Fabrizio La Gaipa -. This confirms the indissoluble bond between our land and Pirandello, so much so that the director returns on the places that strongly inspired the writer. Films and television series consecrate the beauty of this area of Sicily and are tools for promoting the island in Italy and in the world “.
