Rain of contributions on DocBi: “An award for the commitment and quality of our work”

“It is a great satisfaction, not only for the decidedly important economic value, but also because our association has obtained an attention that places it alongside great Piedmontese cultural realities, historical Turin institutions, above all”. With these words Marcello Vaudano, president of DocBi, comments on the official approval of two important loans that will allow to support the activity of the “Centro Studi Biellesi” in the coming years and, in one of the two cases specifically, will be allocated to a project triennial, which involves two other realities in the area.

From the Region, as support for the management of the association and the organization of its cultural activities, the DocBi will receive a total of over 101,000 euros, in three years: almost 31,000 for 2021, over 34,000 for 2022 and over 36,000 for 2023.

“In the ranking drawn up by the Region in the face of the applications received to obtain support for the production of cultural assets and activities – Marcello Vaudano – our programming obtained a score of 90.3 out of 100, placing itself in seventh place, behind institutions such as the “Piero Gobetti” Study Center, the Turin Academy of Sciences, the “Gaetano Salvemini” Foundation for Historical Studies, certainly more structured than us. In the ranking, in the midst of a large representative group of realities of Turin, there are the Olivetti Historical Archive of Ivrea and the Nuto Revelli Foundation of Cuneo. It is a source of pride for us Biella, then, to also find the Documentation Center of the Chamber of Labor of Biella. A good sign, I would say, to show that we are also capable of producing culture and quality ».

On the other hand, the 72,000 euros approved by the “In Luce: enhance and tell the identity of the territories” of the Compagnia di San Paolo are linked to the “Woolscape” project, presented by DocBi together with Cittadellarte and Fatti ad Arte. «We have chosen to join forces – comments Marcello Vaudano – and I think this has rewarded us. Each of us gave up a part of their specificity to accommodate that of the others, but in the end the result was an overall enrichment that allowed us to access the funding of the call. ”

The “Woolscape” project aims to build a narrative of the territory which, starting from two peculiar elements such as greenery and water, brings out its characterizing aspects: archaeological heritage, cultural and naturalistic resources, production system, artisan excellence, villages, trails and paths. The four main locations of the project will be the Fabbrica della Ruota, Cittadellarte, Palazzo Ferrero and the Miagliano Wool Mill.
