ROME – Renault 5 Prototype has just been awarded the title of Concept-Car of the Year by the prestigious Car Design News magazine, after competing against rivals presented by other car manufacturers between March 2020 and March 2021. Car Design Review 8 offers an insight of the year from the design point of view and allows you to take stock of trends and innovations in the automotive sector. The jury of the award is made up of experts from the automotive sector and design directors from the most important manufacturers. With the innovative Renault 5 Prototype, the French company wanted to provide its vision of democratization of electric vehicles in the Old Continent and with this new project, the Renault designers have tried to create a popular and essential car, just as it was at the its popular ancestor.

The 5 Prototype is a fascinating compact city car with which the lozenge brand projects one of Renault’s timeless stars into the future, with a 100% electric modern touch. “The Concept-Car of the Year award awarded to R5 Prototype by Car Design News has a special flavor for the Renault Design team – underlined Gilles Vidal, director of Renault design – for the fact that it was awarded by a jury composed of great automotive designers!
