On June 13, 1972, the life of Rubby Pérez changed forever when he was only 15 years old. A tragic accident left him with a fractured leg, ending his dreams of becoming a baseball player. Despite this setback, Pérez found solace in music and discovered his passion for singing.
Years later, Pérez’s talent and contributions to the national rhythm of merengue have earned him the prestigious Sovereign of Merit award from the Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte). He will receive this honor at the upcoming Soberano Awards ceremony on March 12 at the Eduardo Brito National Theater.
Pérez began his musical journey in 1977 with the Los Pitágoras del Ritmo orchestra in Haina.
