ROME – Raise your hand if you don’t want to keep a Formula One car in your garage. Well, the dream could come true for some passionate millionaire who will participate in the auction organized by duPont Registry, where the Ferrari F300 with which Michael Schumacher competed in the 1998 Suzuka GP was put on sale a few days ago.
An heirloom of great luxury, which just by pronouncing it triggers memories and glitters in the eyes. However, it is a pity that the car in question, whose base price has been set at 4.9 million dollars, does not carry any medals on its chest, quite the contrary. During the race in Japan, the Ferrari team had to raise the white flag when a tire burst, putting the German driver’s dreams of glory into retirement.
The car is in perfect condition, and the price also includes the V10 Ferrari 047 engine capable of delivering 800 horsepower at 17,000 rpm. Not just any engine: despite the fact that the F300 did not mark a glorious season for the Maranello team, this engine represented the basis for the years to come, allowing Ferrari to win the famous five titles in a row, from 2000 to 2004, and Schumi to become, alongside Lewis Hamilton, the most successful driver in the history of Formula One.
