The “Suyun Yiqing Happy China” 2024 National Orchestra Concert brought the enchanting sounds of traditional Chinese music to the residents of Yili, as artists from Jiangsu and Yili came together to put on a captivating performance.

The four-day event, organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Aid Front Headquarters and the Propaganda Department of the Yili Prefecture Party Committee, took place from January 5th to 8th. The concert made its way to the Yili Grand Theater and several schools, reaching over 10,000 spectators and spreading New Year’s greetings through music.

Audiences were treated to a musical journey that showcased the diversity of styles from different regions of China. Jiangsu’s artists delighted the crowd with classic folk melodies like “The Fragrance of Jasmine”, “The Moon Reflected in Two Springs”, and “Taihu Lake Rafting”, giving the people of Ili a taste of the “Jiangnan” folk music tradition. Meanwhile, Yili’s artists immersed the audience in the rich sounds of tracks such as “The Hooves of Black Horses”, “Golden Grassland”, “A Lovely Rose”, and “Western Theme Caprice”, presenting the free and unrestrained national music of “Shanghai Jiangnan”.

“The wonderful performances by Jiangsu artists demonstrated the charm of folk music from different ethnic groups. This is also a testament to the friendship between Jiangsu and Yili over the years,” remarked Song Xiaoming, a music teacher at Zhaosu County No. 1 Middle School, after watching the concert.
