ROMA – The Mauto is preparing to welcome visitors again. The National Automobile Museum of Turin reopens its doors starting next May 1st offering the public many news and important events such as, for example, the exhibition “The shape of the future”, dedicated to 90 years (+1) of the Carrozzeria Pininfarina which will be inaugurated on Thursday 20 May (open until 12 September), and the presentation, on Thursday 13 May, of the Fulminea hypercar by Automobili Estrema. In the busy calendar of upcoming exhibitions we find “The Shape of the Future” (May 20 – September 12), a splendid exhibition itinerary that tells, with the contribution of 16 exceptional examples, the innate ability of Pininfarina to imagine the future and give it shape by anticipating the times and dictating trends. A selection of research prototypes, dream cars and exclusive cars will be exhibited as evidence of the genius expressed by the most famous Italian design house in the world over three generations and over 90 years of history, with a design approach that, skilfully mixing style and function, marked the evolution of the car. With “Caty Torta. A free artist ”(10 June – 7 November), a retrospective dedicated to the Turin painter Caty Torta, a pupil of Felice Casorati and a great car lover, is staged. The exhibitions for the 50th anniversary of the Fiat 127 and tribute to Pio Manzù (from 17 June), on the Lancia Lamba Centenary (from 3 September) will follow, which will open with a large celebratory gathering and some examples of the iconic and innovative car. on temporary display throughout the month in the “square” of the museum.

Not to be missed is “Homage to Giovanni Michelotti” (from 23 September), a retrospective for the 100th anniversary of the Turin designer’s birth; “Those daredevils of the white roads Nuvolari, Varzi, Campari and other heroes at Cuneo – Colle della Maddalena” (from 7 October), which pays homage to races and drivers through the photos of Adriano Scoffone’s archive. The spotlight is then on Automobili Estrema which on May 13 will present the 1: 1 scale style model of the Fulminea, the first Italian 1.5 MW electric hypercar (2,040 Hp) with a hybrid battery that uses solid state and super cells. -capacitors, created in collaboration with the Epta Design studio, Ucif Models and Est Mobile (the public will be able to follow the live streaming presentation on the Automobili Estrema YouTube channel). The supercar of the house of the bull was meticulously restored in 2016 by the best craftsmen of the Modena area and then certified by the Polo Storico Lamborghini.

And then again, until May 20, there is the extraordinary display of the Abarth 1000 Record Pininfarina, a record-breaking car that, in 1960, on the Monza high-speed ring, conquered eight class records, including 187 km. / h over 72 hours and 204 km / h over 12 hours; and from May 15 to June 6, the special exhibition of Misano, the new concept vehicle designed by Ied in collaboration with Suzuki. Also noteworthy is the exhibition dedicated to a special selection of bicycles, tricycles and quadricycles, including some not on display to the public for 15 years, which are part of the Mauto collection and normally kept in the Open Garage. These splendid vehicles return to be admired after a thorough cleaning and restoration by the Mauto Restoration Center. The National Automobile Museum of Turin can be visited safely from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 7pm. Mondays from 10am to 2pm.
