“The Nearest Distance” to Hit Theaters on January 26: A Poetic Story of a Girl in the Bamboo Sea
Sohu Entertainment News – The upcoming release of “The Nearest Distance,” directed by a childhood director, has garnered much attention. Scheduled to hit theaters on January 26, the film tells the story of a bamboo sea girl and an urban beauty who meet by chance and form a connection.
Zhou Ruidong, the film’s lead actor, was discovered by the director during a trip to Changning, Sichuan. The 10-year-old farm girl caught the director’s eye with her determined demeanor, leading to her selection for the starring role.
The film crew visited Ruidong’s home as the movie wrapped up filming, delivering winter clothes, bedding, school supplies, and monetary support. In addition, they pledged to financially assist Ruidong and her brother’s life and education until they graduate from college. Despite the hardships, Ruidong expressed her determination to pursue a college education and contribute back to her family and community.
