Synonymous in the world of silk fabrics and accessories of excellent quality, Mantero could only start from this material for a demanding circular economy challenge. The Resilk project aims to give new life to silk (silk, in English): presented in May of last year, it has been an integral part of the collections since autumn-winter 2020. “In this moment of great change, the need to preserve the environment around us and fight waste has become fundamental and urgent – underlines Mantero -. Resilk is not just an extraordinary fabric and it is more than a new yarn: it is in fact a traceable process completely made in Italy, certified Grs (Global recycled standard), aimed at reducing waste born from waste and surpluses of unused fabrics, designed to regenerate – in the true sense of the word – silk thread and create innovative and unique fabrics, with an unexpected softness, warmth, in full compliance with sustainable ethics. A supply chain result, Franco Mantero reiterates: “Resilk is made in partnership with Ecotec di Marchi & Fildie and includes numerous and extremely delicate steps: the selection of the raw material among pure silk fabrics, the new spinning, the dyeing of the yarn, the weaving with different weights and weaves, a new decoration – which can take place both with digital printing and with screen printing technique – and which more than any other step contributes to giving a new face to the fabric which will then be transformed into a garment or a accessory”.
Resilk is part of a much broader project of sustainable development and circular economy: “We are committed to following the 17 goals for Sustainable Development listed in the 2030 Agenda, the action program signed by the governments of the 193 member countries of the United Nations »Remembers Mantero. Over the years, the company’s green initiatives have led to the obtaining of important certifications. The UN’s 12th objective, in particular, which has as its object responsible consumption and production, was the one that gave the impetus to the creation of Resilk.
