ROME – A traffic compensation for all motorists who remain stuck on the motorway due to the various construction sites open. A situation that, for Assoutenti, has now become unsustainable, and that led it to present an application to the Minister of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility, Enrico Giovannini, to the Transport Regulatory Authority, to the Transport Commissions of the Chamber and Senate and to all Italian political parties, so that automatic compensation is introduced in all cases in which motorists suffer delays due to queues on the motorway. “Today we ask Mims and all the competent institutions to study a traffic compensation, like what has been happening for years with trains and airplanes – explains the president Furio Truzzi – Today if a train or a plane arrives at its destination with excessive delay, passengers are entitled to cash compensation governed by national and community regulations. There is no reason why the same mechanism should not be adopted in the motorway sector, since users pay high tolls to cross the network, often suffering intolerable delays that create evident moral and material damage ”.
For this reason, in view of the Italians’ summer departures, Assoutenti ” asked Mims, the Transport Authority and the Parliamentary Commissions for an urgent meeting to define the possibility of introducing financial compensation also in favor of those users who suffer inconvenience on Italian motorways, compensation which must be automatic, proportionate to the delays suffered and borne by the concessionary companies “.
Meanwhile, Assoutenti reminds motorists involved in the inconvenience of the last weekend of the possibility of joining the class action launched by the association and aimed at obtaining the return of the higher sums paid due to Autostrade per l’Italia’s failure to reduce tolls. (Aspi), as well as compensation for the damage suffered due to the “theft” of time due to bad management of construction sites. However, a cashback to compensate users for the delays suffered due to construction sites open on the various motorway sections already seems to be Aspi’s intentions.
The news was given some time ago by the CEO Roberto Tomasi himself who had emphasized how, starting from July, it would be possible to manage reimbursements related to higher than average travel times and linked to the presence of construction sites and that 250 million would have already been included in the Economic and Financial Plan (Pef) to be allocated to such reimbursements.
