In 2022, Italian cosmetic exports came close to 5.9 billion euros, up by 18.5% compared to the previous year. In detail, Italian cosmetic exports to the United States represent 12.5% of the total for a value of over 730 million euros, up 38.7% compared to 2021. Given that it brings the US market to first place among outlet areas for Made in Italy beauty, undermining France.
Among the most requested Italian cosmetics on the US market, alcoholic perfumery is in first place (193 million euros, +53.5% compared to 2021), followed by make-up (174 million euros, +50.5% ) and skincare cosmetics in third position (€171 million, +28.9%). Also worthy of note in terms of weight in value is the importance of hair products which, in fourth place, reach a value of 167 million euros, up by 29.4% compared to 2021.
Globally, the USA is one of the main cosmetic markets (82.4 billion euros), second only to Europe (88.3 billion euros). The 20th edition of Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas opens under the banner of these numbers, in which 65 companies from our country participate this year. In particular, 45 of them joined the Collective Italy organized by Ice Agency and promoted by Cosmetica Italia within the areas dedicated to hair and skincare.
