Villa Belgrano: neighbors request precautionary measure against “real estate tsunami”

Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 20, at 11:30, the neighbors of Villa Belgrano will gather in front of the 2nd Nomination Administrative Litigation Chamber, demanding a precautionary measure that suspend the development of real estate ventures in the area.

“For more than two years we have been asking the municipality – without receiving a response – to stop the abuse that real estate, commercial and service developments mean for the life of the neighborhood, for the environment and for our quality of life“reads the statement released by the neighbors.

Neighbors of Villa Belgrano achieve collective character for environmental protection against real estate developments

Remembering, last year, residents of Villa Belgrano through their Neighborhood Center presented a appeal for protection against the Municipality of Córdoba. The lawsuit addresses several aspects:

– That the Municipality refrain from issuing new authorizations for real estate projects.

Review the legality and sustainability of projects that have received authorization, but have not yet been built.

– In the case of the projects that they have already received and whose construction is in progress, the neighbors request “that they be reviewed and if they do not conform to the authorization granted, its demolition is ordered“, as the document reads.

The Justice accepted the environmental protection appeal presented, however, this did not necessarily imply the suspension of works. According to information obtained, residents of the area confirmed that, in the recent period, several real estate projects began preparations to start new constructions.

In a new request, the neighbors ask the Justice to immediately issue a precautionary measure to stop the “tsunami inmobiliario” which causes, among other things, “saturation of services to the point of contamination of groundwater, traffic congestion, visual and noise pollution, as well as the loss of urban trees and the degradation of the Suquía River.”

This Wednesday a second hearing of the protection will be held, convened by judges María Soledad Puigdellibol and Daniel Susana Sosa de Soria, at the request of the Municipality of Córdoba. The neighbors, for their part, will demonstrate on the esplanade of Arturo M. Bas 244, in front of the 2nd Administrative Litigation Chamber “to strongly ask Justice to listen to the voices of the neighbors”.
