According to Taiwan media reports, Zhang Pengyi, a well-known Taiwanese martial arts film director, died of stomach cancer on September 24 at the age of 80.

Zhang Pengyi worked at the Shaw Brothers Film Company in Hong Kong in his early years and directed many film and television series adapted from Gu Long novels. His representative works include the movies “Midnight Orchid”, “The Finale of Chu Liuxiang”, “The Legend of Heroes” and “Soul of the Sword”, and the TV series “Chu Liuxiang” “The New Legend of the New Moon”, “Riding a Horse and Howling the West Wind”, etc., are known as “Taiwan Chu Yuan”, and have cooperated with Zheng Shaoqiu and Wu Jing.

The movie “Chu Liuxiang Finale” starring Zheng Shaoqiu, was released in 1983. In 2001, Zhang Pengyi directed the martial arts TV series “Riding Horses to the West Wind”, based on Gulong novels “The End of the World” and “Meteor Butterfly Sword”, starring Wu Jing, Yu Feihong and Tao Hong.
