Zhejiang Music Students Shine in Performance of Classic Opera “Sister Jiang”

by admin

Zhejiang Conservatory of Music students paid homage to the classic heritage of Chinese national opera by performing the iconic piece “Sister Jiang” at the Standard Concert Hall recently. The performance, which was the graduation repertoire of Class 192 Opera Performance Course, served as a tribute to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

“Sister Jiang” is a well-known national opera adapted from a novel by Luo Guangbin and Yang Yiyan in 1964. It tells the story of Sister Jiang’s unwavering ideals, selfless dedication, and revolutionary spirit, which continue to hold practical significance in today’s society.

The project leader of the performance, Yan Shengmin, expressed his pride in the students’ hard work and dedication to bringing the play to life. With guidance from renowned opera performing artists, the students were able to elevate their performance to a higher level.

Despite some imperfections in their singing and performance, the students received praise from opera veteran Chen Hongbing, who commended their efforts and progress.

“This is a culmination of the students’ five years of undergraduate study. They may still have room for improvement, but their dedication and hard work are evident in every performance. As a teacher, I am proud of their achievements,” Yan Shengmin remarked.

The performance of “Sister Jiang” not only showcased the talents of the students at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music but also honored the rich heritage of Chinese national opera for future generations to appreciate.
