According to what is reported by the “Corriere della sera”, 81 cases of the Delta variant detected in Lombardy so far out of the total of the sequenced variants, which from 20 December 2020 to 14 June 2021 amount to 16,638. The most present of the variants is that Alpha (the English variant), with 11,373 cases. The Gamma variant (the Brazilian, with 283 cases) and the Beta (the South African variant, with 79 cases) follow. In 786 cases, variants were sequenced that do not show increased transmissibility or cause more severe disease, ie those that are not VOCs (Variants of concern). In 4,036 cases, the original variant isolated in China in Wuhan, the so-called “wild-type”, was sequenced.
